Hyderabad’s Second Cable Bridge: HMDA Starts Proposal Works
Estimated to cost Rs 363 crore, the Revanth Reddy led Congress government accorded administrative approval for construction of the second cable bridge in March.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has initiated the preparation of plans for a 2.65 km-long, four-lane cable-stayed bridge that will be a landmark feature over the historic Mir Alam Tank in Bahadurpura.
The new bridge will connect Chinthalmet Road to the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway.
Estimated to cost Rs 363 crore, the Revanth Reddy led Congress government accorded administrative approval for construction of the cable bridge in March.
The 2.21 kilometers cable bridge features entry ramps measuring 205 meters and 140 meters on each side of the tank, along with an exit ramp of 110 meters.
Alongside the bridge, the initiative also includes enhancements to the lakeshore and the creation of tourism-related infrastructure and commuter amenities, to be carried out using a public-private partnership (PPP) approach.
The proposal to construct another cable-bridge was put forward in 2021 to ease the traffic congestion. This will be the second high-level cable-stayed bridge in Hyderabad, following the one at Durgam Cheruvu.
